What does it mean to show up for every-body when the world refuses to? In a world obsessed with bodily aesthetics we’ll examine how love is a radical strategy that can function as a political intervention against systemic marginalisation and invisibilisation of certain "non-conforming" bodies.
Through visual examples, queer and crip theory and personal reflection, this lecture will explore love and intimacy as an act of resistance. Together we’ll imagine a future in which every-body is held in a soft and caring embrace.
Menko is a mixed media artist whose art practice critically examines societal systems and juxtaposes it with proposing a future in which every-body and perspective is being taken in and celebrated. With it he strives to craft a narrative that explores the nuanced and delicate interplay of visibility and invisibility, hoping to invite you to engage in introspection and dialogue.
