Dear Rietveld,

Mar. 11, Pingey (2019, 2024), JOSIANE M.H. POZI

Pingey explores the difficult relationship between Pozi and her father. The work is installed as two videos shown side by side: one made in 2019 and another revisited in 2024. Together, they reflect not only on this relationship, but also on how our view of our parents can shift as we grow older.

Josiane M. H. Pozi is an artist and filmmaker whose work focuses on intimate, personal scenes shaped by complex power dynamics. Through observation, conversation, music and dance, her films bring together fragments of everyday life, where feelings of desire, need and quiet resistance begin to emerge.

In recent years, her work has been shown at places such as Somerset House in London, Kunsthaus Glarus, Stadtgalerie Bern and The Shed in New York. Alongside her gallery work, she often collaborates on music videos and live visuals with artists including Klein, Moses Boyd, Jawnino, Four Tet and Arthur Jafa. Pozi was born in London in 1998, where she continues to live and work.
